PROMISE Work packages

Work package 1

Requirements and specifications

Define material, component, and system specifications to ensure comparable measurements and meet use case requirements.

Work package 2

Instrument development

Design a compact optical and mechanical system for sample and diamond integration, and develop tailored SPAD and microwave components to meet performance requirements.

Work package 3

Diamond development

Develop and provide CVD-grown diamond membranes (<100 μm) with activated NV centres, optimizing thickness, nitrogen concentration, and crystal orientation ((100), (111), (110)).

Work package 4

Prototypes assembly and integration

Assemble widefield magnetometers tailored for graphene and corrosion analysis, as well as magnetic material characterization and tumor cell identification.

Work package 5

Use cases

Use cases: Acquire high-resolution images to analyze defects in graphene, corrosion and cracks in metals, magnetic quality control in micromagnets, and intracellular changes to distinguish tumor from non-tumor cells.

Work package 6

Machine learning for quantum image analysis

Development of a data processing suite for widefield imaging magnetometers with tailor-made routines to automate measurement, evaluation, and detection of target variables.

Work package 7

Standardization

Contribution to CEN/CLC JTC-22 WG2 by the consortium representative, focusing on standardizing measurements, components, and the data format for magneto-imaging.

Work package 8

Communication, dissemination and exploitation

Increase public awareness of NV-based quantum sensors, maximize the consortium's impact through IPR monitoring and exploitation plans, and develop industrialization and commercialization roadmaps for PROMISE prototypes to ensure early market adoption.

Work package 9

Project management and coordination

Coordination of participant actions, progress monitoring for project goals, administrative management, and providing a reliable interface to EC services.
